Jean Peau Matt Splitter
If the coat is severely matted it is better to use the Jean Peau Matt Splitter. This allows you to ‘cut’ a knot. Remember to always cut with the hair, from top to bottom through the coat. With a dry coat, the scales open, these will then hook together. Dust is added to this and this can cause felting. With a Matt Splitter you can salvage the coat somewhat. If the felting has become too bad, only a clipper will help.
